Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS)

In an effort to develop the social skills necessary for students to be responsible and independent learners, Reagan will continue to incorporate a discipline process known as Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS). PBIS is a management system established to address the behavioral and discipline systems needed for successful learning. Specific behaviors (expectations) are taught in each school environment consistently by all staff. The expectations are clear and consistent throughout the entire school. We expect all students to be safe, be respectful, and be responsible. We have taught each child what the expectations are and the entire staff model those expectations consistently. Being a “Patriot” includes taking individual responsibility for one’s own learning, including coming to school prepared and ready to learn both collaboratively and independently. To further strengthen our PBIS system, Mrs. Felli is teaching all students Character Counts. This program provides students with an understanding and the tools necessary to resolve conflicts as they build friendships.

Ronald Reagan “Family” Responsibility - There is a firm requirement that students complete all class work and homework. This includes make-up work when a student is absent. Every mistake is looked upon as a learning opportunity to build knowledge and skills, while working towards the mastery of the state standards. Parents agree to support Reagan’s goals and philosophies while upholding student and parent expectations. Staff members agree to provide rigorous academic instruction that is attainable yet challenging to each student, regardless of his or her academic level. The result of these ideals is an atmosphere of support and commitment.

I believe Ronald Reagan is a very special place, holding true to traditions of high expectations and excellence while providing an environment in which all students feel safe, cared for, and valued. As parents, you play a vital role in our “Patriot” dream: that all students can and will achieve the standards. Welcome to the Patriot adventure! Ronald Reagan, where Learners Today Make Leaders Tomorrow!
